What to do in Asbury Park

Asbury Park has been through a lot since it was founded in the 1870s. In the 1900s, it was a popular place for families to go on vacation. People of all ages, races, sexual orientations, and levels of coolness come to this 1.6-square-mile paradise. Summer in Asbury Park is a party every day, but don’t sleep on the cool fall days when the beach and boardwalk are less crowded.

During the Christmas and Valentine’s Bazaar at the Convention Hall, people shop, eat, listen to music, and have holiday parties. Seagulls and other birds from the south come to the boardwalk in the spring when the sun warms it up. Asbury Park and the area around it have things to do all through the year.

The Beach and Boardwalk

Asbury Park’s beach is a wide stretch of sand that stretches for over a mile along the coastline. It’s a popular spot for swimming, sunbathing, and relaxing in the sun. Lifeguards are on duty during the summer months to ensure that swimmers stay safe in the water.

The beach is also home to a variety of amenities, including restrooms, showers, and changing areas. Beach chairs and umbrellas are available for rent, making it easy to spend a day lounging on the sand.

Adjacent to the beach is the famous Asbury Park Boardwalk. The boardwalk is a lively and colorful strip of shops, restaurants, and attractions that stretches for two miles along the beachfront. It’s a popular spot for strolling, people-watching, and enjoying the ocean views. North and south of the Asbury Park Convention Hall, people skateboard, ride bikes, jog, walk, eat, and shop. It takes about 15 minutes to walk along the boardwalk from the Convention Hall to the old, broken-down Asbury Park Casino and Carousel House. There are great murals in the casino. For more fun, check out the Splash Park and Eighteen mini-golf Mini-golf, which are both great for families.

Live Music Venues

Bruce Springsteen played at the opening of the Stone Pony in 1974. Since then, the club has been called the center of the music world and the beating heart of Asbury Park. There have been shows by Southside Johnny, The Asbury Jukes, Jon Bon Jovi, and others. Springsteen sometimes plays sets.

Don’t miss out on the WonderBar. Tillie, Asbury Park’s mascot, is painted on the front of Wonder Bar, the next stop on the music tour. During Yappy Hour, people can bring their dogs to a fenced-in outdoor area to eat, drink, and listen to music.
