The Free Summer Movie Series, presented by XFINITY, will take place on Second Avenue Beach in front of Langosta Lounge. This summer the series is expanding to eight weeks, with free movies every Thursday night at sunset from July 11 through August 29. As always, it’s BYOBC (Bring Your Own Beach Chair)!
“In the aftermath of Sandy, we couldn’t be more excited about being back on the beach at the world-famous Asbury Park boardwalk,” said Shore Flicks owner TJ Brustowicz in the schedule release. “We wouldn’t be able to do this for free without our sponsors, so special thanks to XFINITY and New Jersey Natural Gas for being part of this Jersey Shore tradition.”
“APFI is thrilled to be working with Shore Flicks again this summer,” said APFI co-founder Marilyn Schlossbach in the PR announcing the event. “Once again we’ll be collecting food donations at each screening to benefit the area food banks, and we’ll be supporting Clean Ocean Action and Surfrider Foundation, who will be at all of our movie nights.”
This summer’s movie line-up has the usual something for everyone, from returning favorite Jaws to less-intimating fish in Finding Nemo, from ’80s classics Ghostbusters and Better Off Dead to the legendary Psycho.
The Asbury Park Film Initiative (APFI) was founded in 2008 by Marilyn Schlossbach and VJ Carbone with the aim of providing a unique movie-going experience in Asbury Park for film lovers of all ages.
Winner of the 2011 and 2012 Asbury Park Press Reader’s Choice Award for Best Free Entertainment, Shore Flicks has been providing the best in outdoor movie entertainment in Monmouth County and throughout New Jersey since 2007.
